24 January 2017, Neuss, Germany – Toshiba Europe GmbH today announces the Portégé X20W-D, the world’s thinnest and lightest 2-in-1 business laptop to come with a full power 7th Generation Intel® Core™ (U-Series) processor. The hybrid is elegantly engineered and has subtle 360-degree light gold hinges, which allow it to transform from a high-powered laptop into an incredibly versatile tablet, simply by rotating the display.

The Portégé X20W-D also has a range of security and connectivity features built-in, a battery life of up to 16 hours2, and benefits from step charge technology. This delivers four extra hours of use from just a 30-minute charge, giving users the power of productivity wherever their work takes them.

“We developed the Portégé X20W-D as part of our drive to create the best possible laptop experience for professionals, from employees in small to mid-size organisations, to large corporate environments - regardless of their location,” said Maki Yamashita, Senior Vice President, PC & Solutions EMEA, Toshiba Europe GmbH. “We believe our latest addition to the Portégé family provides the perfect combination of mobility and reliability, whilst offering an advanced level of security and peace of mind for today’s workforces.”

Powerful and Elegant Design

At just 15.4mm thin and 1.1 kg, the Portégé X20W-D offers professionals the flexibility of a laptop, tablet and notepad in one sleek device with a beautiful Onyx Blue cover and Light Gold hinges. Beyond its non-reflective Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4 screen and magnesium chassis, the 2-in-1 laptop is driven by its full power 7th generation Intel® Core™ processor. This is supported by Toshiba’s new Hybrid Air Cooling System to ensure a seamless and

reliable experience - even under more demanding circumstances - placing it at the height of engineering excellence.

Advanced Mobility and Security

The Portégé X20W-D is equipped for professional-standard security and designed to protect critical business data in a variety of ways – from its SecurePad™ with fingerprint reader and IR-camera for face authentication, to its Windows Hello and Intel® Authenticate support. These features are underpinned by Toshiba’s own built-in BIOS, which provides an added layer of security.

Both the BIOS and hardware have been created by Toshiba, removing the risk of third party interference that could leave a device more vulnerable to attack. It also includes Trusted Platform Module 2.0, for enhanced encryption and secure sign-in options.

Enhanced Usability and Audio

Ready to support business users in any corporate scenario, the Portégé X20W-D features an AES stylus pen with WACOM technology, a backlit keyboard that's pitched perfectly for added comfort, and palm rejection technology that ensures a smooth, error-free touchscreen experience.

The device is also designed to be easier for IT staff to manage in light of today’s increasingly mobile workforces. Microsoft’s Windows Management Instrumentation Interface, additional support for Intel® Active Management Technology and full System Center Configuration Manager enable any potential issues with a device to be investigated immediately through a secure connection – whether the employee is simply on the office floor below, or experiencing rare difficulties in the field.

The 2-in-1 laptop also delivers a premium audio experience through harman/kardon® stereo speakers and DTS Sound™ software. Toshiba’s exclusive custom-tuned speakers can adapt to the rotational view of the display, delivering clear and natural audio in any environment – whether a professional is presenting in their own office, or at an impromptu offsite meeting.

To maximise usability, the Portégé X20W-D can be used with a new Thunderbolt 3 Dock, which has a full range of ports including USB type C, HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA and LAN. For employees working increasingly on the move, the USB-C Travel Dock also offers HDMI, VGA and LAN and USB 3.0. Both types can provide power and help to avoid employees carrying an array of cables. A tailor-made protection sleeve with an integrated pen holder will also be made available to keep the 2-in-1 safe and secure while traveling.

The Portégé X20W-D will be available across Europe, Middle East and Africa from February 2017.
